FOOD SHORTAGE IN TANZANIA

Tropical countries are now facing severe drought at very short rain season. This is due to world wide climate change. Developing countries like Tanzania contribute too little to affect ozone layer and air pollution but do pay high price. Poor technology and lowest level of development in science and technology is the challenge which we are un able to face.

Shinyanga is badly hit by drought according to Bishop Ngusa Diocesan Bishop of Shinyanga.

Request of food aid due to food shortage in the Dioceses:
Various Dioceses has reported food shortage in the Province. The Provincial Mothers Union Office is now struggling to find out ways of assisting some of the families which are facing food shortage.
The Diocesan Mothers Union Secretary Martha J. Chilongani and Bishop Charles Ngusa paid a visit to St. Paul’s Parish in various villages where there is severe famine.

St. Paul’s Parish at Bariadi – Diocesan Bishop of Shinyanga posed for a photo with congregants.

Diocese of Shinyanga is not the only diocese facing food shortage. We have had some information from Rorya especially in Sota, Nyamongo, Masonga and Nyaher villages, Zanzibar in Pemba area,Shinyanga almost all over the diocese. And Mountain Kilimanjaro in Karatu and Ngorongoro area. In the near future as national office we mighty need to do the assessment to actually find the real situation. The government has burned all food export due to the food shortage in the country.

It was very sad when Bishop Ngusa and Martha(on there way to Bariadi)  met Kwilabya Dwasi  (68 years old woman ) with her two abandoned grand kids seeking help of even Five kilograms of corn flour to make porridge for these hungry innocent kids.

Please do remember us in your prayers as the nature is now punishing us.
