The Electoral Synod of the Diocese of Victoria Nyanza has elected the Rev Canon Boniface Kwangu as the next Bishop on October 18, 2007 in Mwanza.

Created in 1963, the Diocese of Victoria Nyanza covers the regions of Mwanza and Shinyanga. The Diocese has an area of 7,373 square kilometers.

The Diocese is divided into 6 Archdeaconries, 8 deaneries and 50 parishes. It has 208 churches, 55 Pastors and 208 Evangelists.
